Volunteers With Energy
Volunteers With Energy (VWE), the company’s volunteer program, was established in 2003 to address the numerous requests from charitable organizations for assistance.
Our employees, retirees and their family members are active volunteers in the communities where they live and work. In 2010, our employees volunteered nearly 10,000 hours through our Volunteers With Energy program. This donated time equates to more than $200,000 (based on the current volunteer hour value of $20.85).
Last year, we established a new volunteer recognition award program, ONE Good Deed, to recognize employees who volunteer in their communities outside of Volunteers With Energy projects. Employees chosen to receive this award are featured on our company intranet site and receive a $100 grant for the nonprofit organization associated with their volunteer efforts. Eight employees have been recognized through this program since its inception in August 2010, and grants have been given to organizations such as the American Red Cross, Big Brothers Big Sisters and Soldiers’ Angels, a group that supports deployed soldiers.
