ONEOK Named 'Employer of Choice'

In a region where recruiting is extremely competitive, ONEOK is making a name for itself as a choice employer.

Recently, ONEOK received the Employer of Choice Award by the Job Service Employers Committee of Sidney, Montana. The award is given annually to two companies – a large employer with more than 25 employees, and a small employer with fewer than 25 employees. ONEOK employs approximately 90 people in the Sidney area and more than 250 throughout the Williston Basin.

"In a very competitive marketplace, this award helps build brand and name recognition for ONEOK, which is important to make sure our name is in the forefront of the minds of job seekers. Essentially it does some of the company marketing for us," said Craig Forsander, vice president, ONEOK Rockies Midstream operations.

The award recognizes employers who go above and beyond to create a positive working environment for their employees.

In addition to our competitive compensation and benefits package, ONEOK was recognized for being one of the few companies in the region that hasn't experienced layoffs, which is due in large part to our prudent hiring. Ensuring each position is justified and hiring candidates who not only are qualified for the position, but who also fit within the ONEOK culture remains a priority.

"This type of recognition serves as a level of validation for the things we are working on to be an employer of choice – workplace safety, quality leadership, competitive compensation, employee training and development, and work-life balance," said Forsander.

Another factor that contributed to this year's win is the development and training ONEOK offers. Company leaders strive to be in tune with employees and understand their career goals, so they can help them explore how organization can help them achieve those goals.
