Barbara has 15 years of experience as a recruiter, including three years with ONEOK. She focuses mostly on the operations side of our business and has spent many years filling direct-hire engineering positions.

What types of positions do you recruit for and where?
I fill mechanic, pipeline operator, plant operator, instrumentation and electrical technician, operations engineer and corrosion technician positions in Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Wyoming and Illinois, primarily for our natural gas pipelines and natural gas liquids segments.

What do you like about working at ONEOK?
I like that our asset footprint is so large. I’m from Tulsa so I was somewhat familiar with the company before I came to work here, but I didn’t realize that we had such a large presence in the Bakken, West Texas and western Oklahoma. I also like that the company is very philanthropic and committed to supporting the communities we serve.

Why do you think people should join the ONEOK team?
We are a company that provides a lot of opportunity for growth. We promote from within, and employees have an opportunity to grow, not only in their current positions and locations, but also into new positions throughout our geographic footprint. We also have a very good benefits package that includes three weeks of vacation for all new employees.

What advice would you offer to job seekers?
Networking is a great way not only to learn about the company but also to make connections inside the organization. If you already know someone who works here, they can be a great advocate and help you find the position that fits you best and improve your chances of being hired. Secondly, be patient. The process is lengthy but is well worth the wait.

What is the most common misstep you see candidates make?
Although we do not require you to upload a resume with your application, we do recommend attaching one. Misspelling on a resume is a common mistake and raises a red flag about attention to detail. Candidates need to make sure their resumes are presentable, easy to read and complete.

Anything else you would like to add?
It’s really great to see our company support local organizations in the communities where we live and work. It says a lot about our company, and tells me that ONEOK really cares.
