Justin is a Tulsa native and Oklahoma State University graduate. Before joining ONEOK, he recruited engineering, aviation and skilled-trade positions for various companies in the Tulsa area.
What types of positions do you recruit?
I recruit pipeline and plant operators, mechanics, instrumentation and electrical technicians, measurement technicians, engineers and administrative support positions across our operating footprint. I focus primarily on the Bakken but also recruit positions in Texas, Oklahoma, Iowa and Kansas.
Why do you think people should join the ONEOK team?
There is a lot of opportunity for people to grow and develop at ONEOK, and the company’s stability is a big plus.
What do you like about working at ONEOK?
I continue to learn about the energy business as a whole and the midstream business in particular. Everyone I’ve met – from those at our Tulsa headquarters to those at our field locations – has been great. We hire really great people.
What advice would you offer to job seekers?
Keep your resume up to date, target it to the position you’re applying for and include all relevant experience. For example, your experience with a particular regulation or CAD program could help you stand out from other applicants in the same field.
When you’re reviewing applications or interviewing, what makes a candidate stand out for you?
I look for a resume that’s easy to follow and includes experience applicable to the position applied for.
What is the most common misstep you see candidates make?
I’ve received several cover letters and resumes for the right position but the wrong company, and vice versa.
