ONEOK's commitment to diversity and inclusion was recently recognized by the Oklahoma Bar Association (OBA), which presented its Ada Lois Sipuel Fisher Diversity Awards at a recent luncheon in Oklahoma City. The Oklahoma Bar Association (OBA) is a prestigious and influential organization, with many state and local leaders among its membership.
"We were pleased and honored that ONEOK received this diversity and inclusion award from the OBA," said Steve Lake, senior vice president and general counsel, who was among those present from ONEOK to accept the honor.
"This award shows that others recognize the work of ONEOK employees in creating a diverse and inclusive workplace culture. I'm proud to be part of an organization like ONEOK that truly values diversity and inclusion."
Also attending the event was Brady Wheeler, manager, processing operations. "An award such as this shows the level of commitment that ONEOK has made to diversity and inclusion," said Wheeler. "That commitment is being recognized throughout Oklahoma – not only in our industry but throughout the state. It was an honor to be able to help receive the award for ONEOK."
In typical ONEOK fashion, we had the largest contingent of employees at the event, said Shalynne Foster, diversity and inclusion consultant.
These prestigious annual diversity awards honor Ada Lois Sipuel Fisher, who was a key figure in the Civil Rights movement in Oklahoma. She applied for admission into the University of Oklahoma law school in order to challenge the state's segregation laws and to become a lawyer.
