What is your role as a recruiting specialist?
In my role as recruiting specialist, my duties are varied and entail tasks such as scheduling candidate interviews, pre-employment protocols, applicant tracking system administration, report compilation and a myriad of other administrative functions.
Tell us about working/living in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Why do you think people should join the ONEOK team?
I’m a native Oklahoman and I’ve lived and worked abroad in several foreign countries, but Oklahoma is home for me. I might be biased, but in my opinion, Tulsa is a great place to live and raise a family. I work at ONEOK corporate headquarters in downtown Tulsa, and my work commute is 20 minutes or less, so I enjoy the fact that I don’t have to spend hours sitting in traffic.
ONEOK is the best employer I’ve ever worked for in Oklahoma and their advocacy in promoting a balanced work and family life makes a big difference in the lives of employees. In addition, ONEOK focuses on people and culture, and aids employees in developing careers and growing personally.

What surprised you most about ONEOK when you came to work here?
I enjoy putting my experience and skill set to work helping others become more efficient in their day-to-day job duties. Whether it’s automating an interview schedule or creating a tracking database for candidate protocols, the autonomy and creativity I have in doing my job allows me to share my knowledge and expertise with others.

What is the most common misstep you see candidates make?
Figure out what value you can provide and be willing to embrace change and challenges, all the while doing the right thing, even when no is looking.
Candidates don’t often follow instructions associated with paperwork completion. This misstep can be a critical piece of the process when trying to complete their onboarding.
