Developing New Skills through Volunteering

This week is National Volunteer Week; an annual celebration to promote volunteerism and show appreciation for those who share their time and talents to help charitable organizations in their local communities. At ONEOK, we witness this weekly as many employees step up and step outside of their day-to-day roles to assist charitable organizations or causes they are passionate about.

We believe that volunteering helps employees hone their talents and develop new skills as leaders, board members and organizers – all skills that enrich our company and improve our business processes.

ONEOK not only encourages volunteering; we celebrate it by giving grants for volunteer service and by recognizing our employees efforts in the community each year.  Five employees are honored with the distinction of Volunteer of the Year – one from each of our regions. In addition, at our headquarters in Tulsa, Oklahoma, an annual Volunteer Fair is held providing the opportunity for nonprofits to showcase their causes and educate employees about volunteer opportunities.

Our long history and reputation for investing in the communities where we operate and our employees live creates a sense of pride among our workforce and is a big part of what attracts people to ONEOK. Hear what employees have to say about our culture of giving in this video:
