About Arbuckle Pipeline
Arbuckle Pipeline is a 440-mile pipeline that will transport raw natural gas liquids (NGLs) primarily from natural gas processing plants in Oklahoma and the Barnett Shale natural gas production area in north Texas to the Texas Gulf Coast (see map).
NGLs are comprised primarily of ethane, propane, butane and natural gasoline. These important products are used in the petrochemical and plastics industries, as well as in refining and home and commercial heating. Arbuckle Pipeline is a project of a subsidiary of Tulsa, Okla.-based ONEOK Partners.
More delivery capacity is needed to help move this critical form of energy from where it is produced in southern Oklahoma and north Texas to end users in the marketplace. Pipelines are a safe and environmentally sound method of transporting NGLs, compared with the alternative of hundreds of heavy trucks traveling each day on county roads and highways.
Arbuckle Pipeline originates in Stephens County, Okla., and terminates in Mont Belvieu, Texas, one of the nation's primary NGL marketing, fractionation and storage hubs. The route travels through 17 counties, two in Oklahoma and 15 in Texas.
The pipeline is being designed, constructed and operated using proven technology, advanced pipeline control systems and continuous safety monitoring. The project team is working closely with regulatory agencies, state governments and landowners to obtain feedback and proper permits.
