David L. Kyle

David Kyle is chairman of ONEOK. He was named chairman, president and chief executive officer of ONEOK, Inc. in August 2000. Prior to that, he spent three years as president and chief operating officer of the company. He retired as an employee in January 2008.

Kyle, a native of Wichita, Kansas, grew up in Oklahoma City where he graduated from John Marshall High School. He earned a bachelor of science degree in industrial engineering and management from Oklahoma State University and received a master’s in business administration from the University of Tulsa. He is also a graduate of Harvard Business School’s advance management program.

He joined Oklahoma Natural Gas Company, a division of ONEOK, in 1974 as an engineer and held jobs of increasing responsibility in Ardmore and Muskogee before moving to Tulsa in 1982 as manager of transmission. In 1986 he was named vice president of gas supply and became executive vice president in 1990.

Kyle is a member of Southern Hills Country Club, Leadership Oklahoma, the National Society of Professional Engineers, the Oklahoma Society of Professional Engineers, and the Oklahoma Independent Petroleum Association. He is also a past president of the Petroleum Club of Tulsa and is a director of both the American Gas Association and the Southern Gas Association.

Very active in civic and community affairs, Kyle is a director of the Oklahoma chapter of the Nature Conservancy; the Oklahoma Business & Education Coalition; the Oklahoma Heritage Association; Tulsa Area United Way; and the Tulsa Metro Chamber of Commerce.
