Natural gas vehicle program
Natural gas doesn’t just provide clean, low-cost energy for our homes and offices. It can also fuel cars, buses and commercial vehicles, reducing air emissions while offering cost savings over conventional motor fuels. Compressed natural gas (CNG) powered vehicles, or “natural gas vehicles” (NGVs), can have an immediate and positive impact on the issues of air quality, U.S. energy security and public health. Natural gas is one of the cleanest, least polluting fossil fuels. It also costs less at the pump than traditional fuels such as gasoline or diesel and can help reduce our nation's reliance on imported foreign oil.

You can earn incentives from $1,000 to $3,000 for either purchasing a natural gas vehicle or converting a gasoline-powered vehicle to natural gas. You can also earn a $1,500 rebate for the installation of a FuelMaker VRA (Vehicle Refueling Appliance) for commercial or private use or a Phill HRA (Home Refueling Appliance) for home or business use. These appliances tap into the natural gas line at your home or business, connect to your natural gas vehicle and fill your car overnight, shutting off when the tank is full. Incentive programs are available for both personal and commercialvehicles

The Texas Gas Service Conservation Program has partnered with Howdy Honda and FuelMaker to make the natural gas powered Honda Civic GX and the Fuelmaker and Phill available to customers in Austin and Sunset Valley. To learn more about the Honda Civic GX and the FuelMaker and Phill, click here.

The FuelMaker and Phill and the Honda Civic GX also qualify for Federal tax credits of $1,000 to $4,000 respectively. If you are a business purchasing two or more Civic GXs and a Fuelmaker, additional incentives are also available. For more information about tax credits, click here.
