Employee Equality Is Part of Our DNA

ONEOK was one of four Tulsa-based companies that scored highly on the 2017 Corporate Equality Index, the Human Rights Commission (HRC)'s annual report assessing lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) inclusion in major companies and law firms across the nation.

ONEOK was among seven companies in Oklahoma and 887 companies nationwide rated in the report, which is the national benchmarking tool on corporate policies and practices related to LGBT workplace equality. ONEOK scored 85 this year, the same as in 2015. The company scored 70 in 2014.

"It is always nice to be recognized as a corporate leader, but the recognition is only a small part of the story," said Scott Schingen, vice president, natural gas liquids fractionation and storage. He recently wrapped up two years of service as co-chair of the Diversity and Inclusion Council. "More importantly, we are successfully establishing a competitive advantage in attracting the best talent, building strong teams with diverse perspectives, and nurturing our unique culture where everyone can contribute to their full potential."

The Corporate Equality Index rates companies and top law firms on non-discrimination policies, employment benefits, demonstrated organizational competency and accountability around LGBT diversity and inclusion, public commitment to LGBT equality and responsible citizenship.
