What types of positions do you recruit?
I help fill positions in the Bakken area, including plant and pipeline operators, mechanics and instrumentation and electronics technicians.
Tell us about working/living in the region where you recruit.
Working in the Bakken has some challenges. For example, we may not have the same luxuries or level of services that larger towns enjoy, but there is always Amazon!
Why do you think people should join the ONEOK team?
ONEOK’s culture and work environment are excellent. The benefit package is generous and includes flexible vacation and sick leave policies that let you take vacation or sick time in hourly increments, rather than having to take a full day.
What do you like about working at ONEOK?
I enjoy being close to the action and directly involved with operations team decisions, knowing my input is valued. I feel included and very connected to the business and the leaders I support.
What surprised you most about ONEOK when you came to work here?
I was surprised by how much work is done behind the scenes. From the outside, we’re a natural gas gathering and processing company, but what you don’t see are all of the smaller, integral moving parts required to keep it all going.
What advice would you offer to job seekers?
Be yourself! Don’t let money be your chief concern. Make sure we are as good of a fit for you as you are for us.
When you’re reviewing applications or interviewing, what makes a candidate stand out for you?
Candidates who have done their research on the specific roles for which they have applied get my attention. It’s clear they have earnestly sought to understand our business, customers and culture.
What is the most common misstep you see candidates make?
Too often candidates can’t clearly articulate why they want to join the ONEOK team.
