#ONEOKGivesBack – Why YOU Should Want to Work for a Company that Cares.

It’s more than just a hashtag; service is a core value here at ONEOK. Whether providing great service to our customers or serving our community, ONEOK employees are known for their generosity. Just last month, more than 160 employees spanned out to seven charitable organizations to volunteer their time and talents during the Tulsa Area United Way’s Day of Caring.

Projects included:

Tulsa Garden Center – rose garden restoration, painting and more.

The Salvation Army North Mabee Boys & Girls Club – cleaning high traffic areas.

Tulsa Educare, Inc. – helping teachers in the classroom and reading to the children.

A New Leaf, Inc. – creating a new vegetable garden.

Girl Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma – painting the lodge at Camp Tallchief.

Tulsa Dream Center – filling grocery carts and yard work.

Tulsa SPCA – Cleaning and painting kennels

Every year, multiple organizations request our help. Volunteers With Energy (VWE), our company volunteer program, provides volunteer manpower for organizations, programs and activities with a charitable focus. Company-sponsored volunteer projects give employees, retirees and family members the opportunity to give back to their local community. We take pride in offering employees a wide range of volunteer opportunities that capture their interests and passions throughout the year.

That culture of giving also extends to our own employees through ONE Trust, a fund supported by employee donations of money and vacation time to assist fellow employees in crisis situations.

According to TheGuardian online, “Working for a company with a social mission gives employees something to feel proud of – and these businesses attract a specific kind of employee.” AT ONEOK, we pride ourselves on our inclusive and supportive culture, created by and for our caring employees.

So why should this matter to you, the job seeker? When you accept a job, you are agreeing to spend much of your time and many of your talents to help achieve business goals. And when you work with people who care, for a company that cares about you, your family and your community, you are a part of something bigger than the company’s bottom line.

Denise Adams, ONEOK director of rates and regulatory compliance, was among the volunteers at the Tulsa SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) during Day of Caring.

“One of the best parts about days like this is that you get to meet and mingle with employees outside of your department and do something different or new together,” she said. In addition to their hard work on the day of, Denise mobilized her team to do prep work days before, to ensure the project’s success. Now THAT is teamwork!

We are committed to supporting employee volunteerism within ONEOK but also in the communities where our employees live and work.
